Obituary: Flying Fish
1983 - October 2004

Coaster Kingdom is saddened to announce the passing of the Flying Fish.

Born in 1983 as Space Station Zero, Flying Fish was raised by RMC in its adolescent years in the comfort of a building in what is now Amity Cove. At six years old, when he was old enough he was introduced to the outside world, changing his name from Space Station Zero to Flying Fish.

Flying Fish revealed its new identity in 1989. His curvy, colourful body became synonymous with his name, and his slightly sullen, yet ever-so-gaudy phizog carried hundreds of thousands of visitors on a giddy tour of his neatly manicured gardens with fountains, bushes and cascading waterfalls.

Fish has been terminally ill for a year now, suffering from the announcement of Thorpe Park’s pregnancy. Thorpe is due to give birth to a bouncing little launched coaster in 2005, and consequently Fish’s fate was sealed.

Fish’s serpentine spirals will be long remembered, as will the Fish’s part in playing games such as ‘bush grabbing’ practiced by Fish’s most resolute fans. A ceremony marked the Fish’s passing on October 31 in a private ceremony by his most loyal fans.

No flowers.
