Obituary: Eclipse
2003 - October 2004

Eclipse has passed away at the age of two.

Eclipse was one of three triplets, born into the loving arms of Thorpe Park in 2003. His siblings, Nemesis Inferno and Quantum, survive him.

At only two years old, Eclipse suffered from neglect from an early age. He was a late arrival at Thorpe Park, and since his introduction into the working park never made many friends and was aloof throughout his short life as he was ‘different’.

While Thorpe Park mothered many bigger, greater siblings, Eclipse was left to fend for himself, attracting only fleeting attention from just a few people.

Throughout his life, Eclipse also suffered many ailments, and although was never off ill for long, coupled with his low popularity, quietly passed away in the autumn of 2004.

Eclipse will certainly be known for his charisma. Never the largest, nor the most spectacular, Eclipse always carried people high above the ground for panoramic views of the park below. He was never refined, always slightly shaky, but invariably offered a welcome escape from the more high-octane company of his siblings.

The fate of Eclipse is unknown, although his successor, Screamin’ Swing, will certainly be more at home with Eclipse’s more boisterous siblings.
