Hellgate,
Thorpe Park
As soon as the sun had set, and
the green and purple lights were left to light up the dark sky,
me and about 20 friends went to queue for the Asylum. When we
were two groups away from the door, we could already hear the
shrieking and the sirens going off, people trying to get back
through the door, but there is no turning back.
Our group consisted of 2 boys
at the front, five of us girls in the middle, and one boy at the
back. As soon as the house rules of no touching the actors and
no running are over, they open the door for us, and we slowly
pace through the door. we walked for a while down a lit
corridor, thinking it wasn't scary. The group wouldn't move any
further, so a friend said, "look there is nothing to be
scared about you lot come on!". That was when she turned
around to see what we were looking at, a bloodied woman pacing
up the corridor towards us! We all scream and run back to the
entrance, but another group had already came in and wouldn't let
us go back, but some how, two of the girls and all three of the
boys fought through them.
So us three girls had no choice
but to join the group that had just come through. Walking past
the girl was terrifying. She coldly stares at you with bloodshot
eyes, rusty syringe in her hand.
As
soon as you cant see her anymore and you breathe a sigh of
relief, a man jumps right into you and feels your face with his
zombie-like hands. The next part was just a blur, as we paced
our way through the strobe lights, mirrors and three more
petrifying actors.
Then the next actor I could
remember was standing in a corner looking at a mirror but then
he leaps out into you and doesn't let any one of you pass
without a deadly stare. We all sprint past him until we find a
girl lying dead on the floor. Well that's what we thought. Her
eyes were wide open. then she blinks looks at the nearest one to
her and tries to stab you with a syringe that has no needle. Fortunately,
she misses the opportunity and waits for the next group.
There are now many actors
jumping out of corners, following you through the whole maze,
suddenly disappearing through the flashes of the strobe light
and clouds of fog. They were scuttling up the fences, blocking
your way to the exit and letting out bloodcurdling
screams.
Then we hit the last long
corridor. We all take a large gasp of air and head to the exit,
until you suddenly stop because you can hear the chinging of
chains getting louder and louder. A man with chains suddenly
rushes towards you and stares each one of you out, not knowing
what he is capable of in the dark and without the supervision of
security guards we run at the exit doors where our friends who
thankfully didn't go in were waiting.
We pleaded them not to go in
for it was petrifying scary. We wait for a few seconds, until we
suddenly see the boys that ran out of our group with a bunch of
our friends burst through the doors white as ghosts. We all
sprint to Samurai, hoping that it will take away the shakes and
worries over the unforgettable Asylum.

Hellgate,
Thorpe Park
I'm not your
average .. oh my god, its a freak, lets run away girl .. yet
Hellgate genuinely scared the hell out of me. The whole success
of the mazes and suchlike attractions all depends on the actors
working in them. The actors in Hellgate were very into their
roles and carried them off accordingly to the point they were
almost believable. Although the asylum was supposedly the main
maze attraction, I thought that Hellgate was more deserving of a
visit. It just felt like there was more of an effort made to
make it an enjoyable but shaky experience. Hopefully the asylum
will be more modelled to how Hellgate was for next year.

Hellgate,

Well, I disagree
strongly with 'Tom Marshall's' review as Hellsgate is the scariest
thing I've ever seen! The actors were truly in character and the
effects were amazing, I was so scared!

Hellgate,
Thorpe Park
Very disappointing
- very few actors, no attempts to shock or even scare - despite
not liking this kind of thing generally - this was just dull - I
went in expecting to be scared - I felt it was a total waste of
an hour's queuing. After this I went back to the proper rides, I
certainly wasn't waiting 90 mins for Asylum in case it was as
bad - summary - "A total waste of time"

Genuinely scary, although too much
staring and not enough scaring! The strobes in there are
amazing, so disorientating, and the whole walk through seems so
much longer than 5 minutes. Looking forward to the new mazes
this year.

Halloween
2005, Port Aventura
Very, very disappointing. Visited a
couple of years ago and it was utterly utterly amazing! This
year it had all the same attractions (and 1 extra show) but it
just seemed to lack that spark. One night they didn't have a
scare zone (the best bit IMHO) because the park was too quiet.
No chance of a refund either.

Tulley's
Farm
Thanks for your review of Tulley's Farm
- thanks to that I went and it far exceeded my already high
expectations. When I visited there were actors in Field of
Screams so all three attractions were brilliant. Bought a
massive pumpkin too for £4.

This has to be one of the scariest and
most chilling attractions in the UK. Queuing was a scary thought
in the first place, as i stood looking at an hour and a half
queue that stretched up and down the length of the pathway that
runs from The Chief Rangers Show, all the way down to Canada
Creek. Surprisingly though, this was not too bad an ordeal, with
police and staff security patrolling the lines making sure there
was no queue jumping or anti-social behaviour.
Loading of the attraction is very
efficient, as people are grouped together before being let in,
and there is also a slight gap in the queue which is also the
exit, which is entertaining in itself, watching people run out
screaming.
As we were let it, expectations of this
attraction were average at best, but after a few steps I knew my
past convictions had not been justified; this was simply
fantastic, jaw-dropping, spine-tingling horror.
As you navigate your way around the
black walls and chicken wire, you are 'attacked' by actors, some
of which jump out at you, some follow you, and some simply stare
you out.
The scariest bit has to be when you turn
a corner, there is a sudden flash of the brilliant strobe
lighting, in which an 'axe-murderer' jumps down seemingly onto
your heads, before he manages to push himself back up onto his
perch on top of the wall. Genius.
Another highlight is the chainsaw wielding
maniac woman at the end, but as the Coaster Kingdom Review says,
please do watch out for the cut-off head, I nearly stacked on
that.
So all in all, there is not really
anything to fault this ride: impeccable acting, fantastic
surroundings/theming, and a potential wildly out of control kept
orderly. And most importantly, one of the scariest frights of
your life!
