Please I have a wide experience of theme parks from both a visitor and employee standpoint. I have enjoyed visiting theme parks ever since my first ride on Professor Burp's Bubbleworks so many years ago.

My interest in rides and dark rides in particular stems from a strong interest in entertainment. I participate in amateur dramatics and play various musical instruments, and I believe that a good ride is essentially a large scale theatrical production that can evoke emotions and transport someone out of everyday life and into another world.

I work for a University, and I first started visiting fairs and parks when I was a tiny child, largely because I hated school and had to be given an incentive to get through the week. Probably my favourite memory as a kid was my first visit to Nottingham Goose Fair in the early 1980s. I loved it so much that I haven't missed a year since.

My favourite rides are undoubtedly the Mondial Inferno and Huss Break Dance, my most beloved coasters are the now-removed Magnum Force at Flamingo Land, and Oscar Bruch's EuroStar. I also have a passion for rides with a sense of history, like the Blackpool woodies and Hex. My favourite park by far is Pleasure Beach Blackpool.

Aside from Coaster Kingdom, I occasionally contribute to various television and comedy websites, most notably offthetelly.co.uk. I spend the rest of my time playing pool, eating toast, and lying down - though not all at once.

I'm a designer for a national magazine, visiting parks and fairs in my spare time, and then writing about them in whatever time is left. I founded Coaster Kingdom about ten years ago after rides like Nemesis caught my attention, and for much of that time have been ably assisted by John Phillips.

Marcus SheenUnsurprisingly, Nemesis is still one of my favourite coasters, although I have to go further abroad for my favourite parks - either to Germany or Spain.

Recently I haven't spent nearly as much time on Coaster Kingdom as I would have liked, but having spent many hours coming up with an easier to maintain design, I hope that the site can continue to be one of the best for unbiased and unabashed theme park reviews and features.
