Coaster Kingdom

Elsewhere in Blackpool

Article image I'm not trying to make a fashion statement by going against popular opinion, but I think 2007 is shaping up well at Pleasure Beach Blackpool.

An update on Theme Park Review shows the many improvements being made at the park, which not only includes the new SLC, Infusion, but also a lot of painting and maintenance.

Best of all, it looks like the Big Dipper is getting a major tidy up with the entrance teardrop covered in scaffolding, the entire ride being repainted in white (with red handrails as before) and the possibility that the IG DIPPER sign may be repaired.

Elsewhere, many other coasters and rides are covered in scaffolding including the Roller Coaster, while other improvements such as replacing aging fencing and the tatty windows where the Grand National dives under the pathway while the Derby Racers is receiving a new roof.

The other major change is that Spin Doctor has written his final prescription and is no more. While this has been rumoured before, 235's chairman Greg has confirmed this in a thread on 235's site on behalf of the park.

A lot of people are unhappy that Infusion is being added, but it's better than nothing and it is better than seeing a ride go to waste, however bad it is. Personally I never found TraumaTizer too bad, and Blackpool aren't in a good enough position to contemplate taking risks when to be honest a SLC with one careful owner will do the trick.
