Walibi Belgium plants ugly tree
Monday, April 03, 2006

Article imageHonestly, isn't this one of the most grotesque coasters you've ever seen? Indeed, this hasn't fallen from the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, it is the ugly tree.

Actually, I tell a lie; it's Vertigo, the new 3DBA Hang Glider at Walibi Belgium. Also on the themepark.nl forum is a new copy of the park map, which shows just how much ground this 180ft coaster covers.

While it may be as ugly as sin, it certainly has the potential to be an interesting ride. As you can see, riders are suspended in four-wide cars which are hung from a slim track, which - like a cable - can travel long distances without needing supports.

Those ugly columns support helixs, between which the ride swoops across the park.

It's a 180ft tall, which makes it the tallest full-circuit suspended or inverted coaster in the world.
